Image
Okay, so I am a medical doctor and I  practiced in Nigeria. So i honestly felt i had the skinny on hypertension. I mean we all know the risk factors- familial, sedentary lifestyle, obesity , alcohol blah blah blah.  Imagine my utter shock and amusement when i saw a comment on linda ikeji's blog about causes of hypertension and someone said snoring. i was about to reply- what utter hogwash! but i decided for the sake of ..... . to check. I checked and behold. Shock, i tell you. Shock. Anyhow, we live and we learn. so, yes! snoring has been linked to hypertension. snoring causes sleep apnea, which is just a fancy way of saying oxygen deprivation. Snoring and its resulting low oxygen supply to the body can have a similar effect as lack of sleep . Research shows that someone who doesnt sleep has a higher tendency or higher risk factor for hypertension. you can find more information HERE and HERE . Lets try to keep ourselves informed and stay healthy. Thank you for readin

Facebook Etiquette

Was reading an article by a CNN columnist Douglas Rushkoof- why I quit facebook. He had some interesting points. But that isn’t the purpose of my article. It got me thinking about the do’s and don’ts of facebook.      So, what is considered proper behaviour on facebook? Well, after a little digging around, I discovered there is a wealth of knowledge on the very subject. So, here is most of what I can find, plus a few of mine. Let’s start with the NO-NO’s- DONTS 1.         Avoid adding strangers. Unless I missed the memo by facebook saying there were prizes for the most number of friends. Seriously though, scam artists operate via facebook too. Also, remember that your friends also say a lot about you. 2.        Avoid putting all your data out there. Not everyone NEEDs to know everything about you via facebook updates. The close people in your life know you and tend to know what’s up especially when its good news like upcoming nuptials and a baby. Plus identity thef

Background story - Oskar Pistorius , South African sprinter was charged to court for the murder of his model girlfriend - Reeva Steenkamp. Following this, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode decided to share his opinion on Facebook.Mr Femi Fani-Kayode , former minister of aviation , claims that obviously Oskar Pistorius was provoked. That the girlfriend - Reeva Steenkamp was 'obviously' a Jezebel and a Delilah, whatever that means.  This follows the trend of  my earlier article why aren't you vexed .Men supposedly not having any self control.
