Oga At The Top....... Some Perspective

I am sure we have all seen the short clip of the Lagos State  Commandant of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp(NSCDC) on Channels TV. So, I won't bug you with that. What I think would be beneficial if you can spare about 20 minutes to watch the full interview.

 Part 1

      Part 2

The first issue is the claim that channels TV presenters were not fair to the guy. hmmmmmmm. How do I start? Watching the whole interview, gives better perspective . Truth is, the presenters were fed up.The man through out the interview didn't answer 1 question directly. He had to be guided through out the process. Question after question had to be broken down and he would regularly say- My Oga(s) at the top. Not that I support them but I felt their pain. Not forgetting that one of the issues he was called  upon to clarify was this issue of various false websites. So it only made sense to ask- what the official NSCDC website is. But as seasoned professionals, they should have tried harder to guide the man through the process and learn to move on, if the man didn't know the answer. My verdict is, both parties- commandant and presenters, had their issues.

Honestly, like my husband would say- there is a fine line between criticism and cyber bullying. NO one wants their mistakes broadcast the way this guy's mistake has been. From the clip of the interview going viral , to all sorts of on line posters, skits and tee shirts almost overnight. Its been amazing to watch. But the question is - Have we taken it overboard? Are we bullying the man? I think the honest answer is yes. This guy goofed and it was hilarious  for the first few days but can we now move on?Let's cut the Commandant some slack.  Hopefully the next person to be interviewed will  come better prepared . Besides he is but a symptom of the bigger picture. The 'educated unexposed' we have in authority. I believe he just isn't interview material.

  3. Thank you for reading Tokunbo. LOL @ I want to say more...
Seriously though like i said on facebook. Yes, we tend to celebrate mediocrity but think the presenters could have handled him better. A good example is Amanpour and GEJ. He didn't give any straight forward answer but she pressed a bit and moved on.
Also this guy is just the 1 to get caught. Others have come on this same channels and have said equally stupid things.
